A message from Eric Scharf, CEO

Happy Summer to all!!! Now that we got through the grey months of winter and wet spring, I am hoping we all can get to take advantage of the sunny Kentuckian summer that has been now bestowed. I know that my family and I are excited about Friday after 5 and all the activities that are available in Owensboro. In speaking to some of the people we support, there is clearly a vested interest in being active within the Owensboro community. Let’s all take this time to appreciate the sun and nice weather and get moving outdoors! I have been told the latter summer months can be humid and difficult to enjoy, so don’t hesitate and hit up the favorite frequent spots now, while the weather cooperates.

Here at Wendell Foster, the last couple of months have been very busy and geared towards designing goals and objectives for the various teams here at Wendell Foster. Our Administrative Team and Board have been engulfed with capital initiatives that are expected to be launched in the early fall. As many are aware, we are proposing to expand our Outpatient Services and to expand our footprint on campus to accommodate a new Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility, a state of the art Dietary/Inventory building and a new home for our Maintenance Department. It is clear, the need for these changes are overdue and will push Wendell Foster’s great reputation forward for many more years to come.

Since our last newsletter, we have been honored to receive a substantial donation from the Whitesville Lions’ Club Pie Auction and had a great evening in the Sensory Park with Owensboro Symphony Orchestra’s 2nd St. Big Band. We also had a great response from our Annual Boston Butts Sale that sponsors our Autism Services. We sold over 160 butts!

We are also pleased to announce that our new and refreshed website is live after months of hard work and dedication. The updated site includes changes to navigation, with new menus compatible for both mobile devices and desktop computers. The site can be found at the same address at wendellfoster.org.

A noteworthy upcoming event is our Annual Benefit Auction on September 8 at the Convention Center. I’m looking forward to my family and I meeting many of our longtime supporters.

I hope to see you all at the RiverPark Center or at the many other wonderful venues and events offered by our lovely city of Owensboro.

Best, Eric
