Calling all siblings ages 7-13 who have a brother or sister with a developmental disability! You are invited to join the first of many Sibshops sponsored by Wendell Foster. It’s your time to connect with other sibs, have fun, play games, and share about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs. The Sibshop will be facilitated by Melissa Jackson, special education teacher at Apollo High School, and Haley Huston, a middle-grade education student at Western Kentucky University. Both are first-generation facilitators through the Sibling Support Project and have brothers with Down syndrome. COVID guidelines will be followed: screening for temperatures and signs/symptoms, wearing masks, and social distancing. Individual snacks and drinks will be provided, along with a super cool T-shirt. Children can be dropped off beginning at 1:45 p.m. and picked up by 3:45 p.m. Sibshop will be held in the Latham Outpatient Facility, on the corner of 9th and Triplett. There is no cost to attend the event. Please register by emailing Cindy Huston: [email protected]
