Job Description

Wendell Foster, a non-profit disability service provider in Owensboro, Kentucky has an opening for a Community Engagement Specialist in the Community Engagement department.

The Community Engagement Specialist supports the mission of Wendell Foster by promoting awareness through relationship building and community education. These activities will allow people to have greater access to programs and services that will help fulfill their dreams and potentials.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

· Minimum two (2) years of experience in marketing, sales, business development, fundraising, communication, or related field.

· Grant writing experience is preferred.

· Volunteer coordination experience is preferred.

· Experience working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities is highly preferred.

· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of community resources.

· Excellent networking, training, communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.

· Outgoing personality with a high level of comfort meeting new people.

· Must demonstrate exemplary customer service.

· Ability to work closely with others in a team environment.

· Assist in development and adherence to department budget.

· Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.

· A strong commitment to providing support to those in need.

· Proficient at the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

· Proficient with various social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, etc.

· Graphic design is a plus.

· Outgoing personality with a high level of comfort meeting new people.

· Proficient at the use of software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media Platforms, Blackbaud The Raiser’s Edge, HTML, JavaScript, Adobe, etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Be knowledgeable about community resources and programs.

2. Develop, identify, and maintain working relationships with community referral sources.

3. Facilitate communication and relationship building with community groups and/or committees.

4. Actively participate in organizational and local networking committees.

5. Make presentations to individuals and groups (Ex: Civic groups, No-R-Word Campaign).

6. Conduct outreach activities for the organization.

7. Participate in the education of the community, service providers, and other interested parties with respect to organizational services and programs.

8. Assist in marketing of programs and services at Wendell Foster.

9. Assist the Community Engagement Department in the planning and implementation of special events.

10. Plan and execute Quarterly Connection meetings.

11. Plan, lead and execute special events (Ex: First Responders BBQ)

12. Assist with marketing or events and services using a variety of mediums.

13. Assist with donor relations.
