Respect Starts Now! Campaign Reaches Thousands

Wendell Foster’s “Respect Starts Now!” educational campaign reached a total of 8,200 school kids in 2018.

“Respect Starts Now!” focuses on treating each and every person with respect by touching on the following points: 1) Challenging common thinking toward individuals with disabilities; 2) Persuading the audience to eliminate all hurtful and insulting terminology; 3) Supporting anti-bullying efforts.

John Gleason along with Lesley Blake and Tessa Wilkerson made 116 presentations in 5 months! Lesley is a self-advocate of Cerebral Palsy (CP)  and Tessa is a self-advocate of Muscular Dystrophy. They both shared their inspiring stories of not letting anything get in the way of their dreams.

John Gleason, Community Outreach Specialist, leads the presentation by reminding the audience to focus on people’s abilities, not on their disability.
