Wendell Foster’s 2025 Giving Tuesday campaign will support much needed updates to our Supports for Community Living (SCL) homes. Giving Tuesday, held on December 2, is a global day of generosity encouraging people to support causes they care about. Wendell Foster has a goal to raise $15,000 through the Giving Tuesday campaign to help support these renovations.
Wendell Foster operates seven SCL homes that provide a residential option for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Three residents live in each home, with staff on-site to support daily living needs such as cooking, bathing, and housekeeping.
Five of the homes, built in the late 1990s and early 2000s, are now in need of repairs and updates. The total project cost is nearly $220,000. Through the generosity of our donors and community partners, we’ve raised approximately $100,000, but additional funds are needed to complete the work.
CEO Doug Hoyt said that while the SCL program is funded through Medicaid, those rates are designed to cover operational expenses such as staffing costs and utilities. “Medicaid helps us meet essential needs, but it doesn’t allow for the kinds of improvements that truly enhance quality of life,” explained Hoyt. “Major investments, like home renovations, aren’t included. That’s why fundraising is essential. We rely on the community to help us keep these houses truly feeling like home.”
Gifts made to Wendell Foster’s Giving Tuesday campaign will support interior renovations such as new flooring, kitchen cabinets, and countertops.

“We are humbled by the support Wendell Foster receives from this community. For those who feel called to donate to this effort, we are truly so thankful. Our mission is possible because of you,” said Hoyt.
