Adult Foster Care (AFC) is a residential option for participants who require up to 24 hours a day support but prefer not to live in a staffed residence. AFC provides the best of both worlds for many participants. Adult Foster Care provides individualized support in a family setting. Supports are provided in a non-provider owned residence or in the contractor’s or participant’s home. Each participant that is interested in the AFC setting meets with many potential contractors to find the perfect fit for his/her needs and wants. AFC homes provide a variety of services including but not limited to:
- Assisting the individual with daily personal care
- Aiding in daily recreational or vocational activities
- Providing transportation to medical appointments, shopping, and recreational activities
- Preparing and serving meals
- Dispensing medications
- Providing social interaction
- Fostering independence
