Wendell Foster Hosts 2023 Special Needs Expo

OWENSBORO, KENTUCKY – Wendell Foster, a local agency serving people with disabilities, will be hosting their annual Special Needs Expo on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Owensboro Convention Center.

The Special Needs Expo is an opportunity for community agencies to provide information about resources and services that will assist families in supporting a loved one with a disability. The Expo will include non-profit organizations, state agencies, and private businesses that provide services in the following areas: Advocacy and Support, Assistive Technology, Autism Services, Behavior Supports, Day Programs, Durable Medical Equipment, Early Childhood, Education, Future Planning, Health & Rehab, Recreation, Residential Services, Supported Employment, and Waivers.

“Wendell Foster understands that navigating the world of disabilities can be challenging, and sought to find a way to support families on their journey,” said Cindy Huston, Director of the Assistive Technology and Resource Center at Wendell Foster. “Through the Special Needs Expo, we offer a way for community organizations to join together in sharing about their services.”

This year’s Expo features a mini sports fest, with activities for attendees such as basketball, football, baseball, and more. Athletes from the Special Olympics Kentucky Area 2 chapter will be on hand to provide friendly competition during the activities. Kim Johnson, Area 2 Director and Daviess County Coordinator for the Special Olympics, will be present to provide information on sports and programming provided by the Special Olympics.

There is no charge or registration required to attend, and door prize drawings will be held throughout the day.
